Mother-Friendly CHildBirth Initiative
As part of the Long Island Doula Association's ongoing endeavor to improve obstetric care on Long Island we have adopted the following initiative as outlined by the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) and require all of our members to read and agree to adhere to these principles as closely as possible.

These principles give rise to the following steps, which support, protect, and promote Mother-Friendly maternity services:
Ten Steps of the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative For Mother-Friendly Hospitals, Birth Centers,* and Home Birth Services To receive CIMS designation as “mother-friendly,” a hospital, birth center, or home birth service must carry out the above philosophical principles by fulfilling the Ten Steps of Mother-Friendly Care.
